I had tried to learn Italian for 7 years - I tried DVDs, CD ROMs etc. I still couldn't speak Italian, nor did I understand the language and struggled with grammar. I then sought a private tutor, and although I started to understand some elements, it wasn't intuitive and I didn't really gel with the teacher and felt I was being told off. I then found Katia on Edufire. She has challenged me, however has always been patient and good fun. She is a native speaker and corrects me on my pronunciation and this has really helped. Although it is still early days, I am starting to feel a change in my understanding and I feel things are becoming more intuitive. The ultimate test, however, is that I have never been so motivated to attend a lesson - my goal was to attend every 2 weeks, however I attend weekly (sometimes more) and love it. Katia is an excellent teacher and motivates her students, she also is very well organised and tailors the sessions for your level - I would highly recommend her.

Katia uses many aspects of Italian life and culture to teach the language. For example, in the most recent session she used a current Italian song to work on listening comprehension, verbs, and to talk about the poetic beauty of the italian language. I wish I could have found a tutor like Katia long ago!
